My Story
Joshua Trotter was born and raised in Cincinnati,OH. He currently lives with his partner and fellow educator, Justin Smith, and their orange cat, Perceus. From an early age, Joshua was invested in the arts community in his hometown. Joshua graduated high school in 2014 from The School for Creative and Performing Arts (The first K-12 Public School for the Arts in the U.S.) where he majored in Drama, Technical Theatre, and Creative Writing. Along side his High School Diploma, Joshua recieved a Career Technical Education Certificate for all his artistic majors. In 2017, He retured to SCPA and Cincinnati Public Schools as a Teaching Assitant for 2nd Grade Classes. He also helped establish the National Alumni Association for the School for Creative and Performing arts as an officail 501c3 Non-Profit Orginazation, became president of the association from 2020-2023, and helped establish the Alumni Scholarship Program - Dare to Dream Scholarship. Joshua gained his Associates of Arts Degree (with a focus in education) in 2021 from Cincinnati State Technical Colllege. Joshua is also a spoken word artisit by the name of Joshua The Wordsmith, and in 2025 Joshua was a featured River Roots Poet. Currently, Joshua is working in child care/youth development at the YMCA of Bloomington-Normal, and persuing his B.S. in Theatre Education at Illinios State University (Grad Year: 2027)
